AZARES IMPROBABLES

This collection brings to my work a new approach to silhouettes, integrating edges and creases that blend into the characteristic organicity of each work. What was once only curved and smooth, now shows unexpected pronounciations that twist and dissappear into the bodily insinuations of each silhouette. This evolution was deeply influenced by a short apprenticeship with mexican ceramist Gustavo Perez, who´s insights into my work challenged me to think of the pieces from a different perspective, as well as by classical sitar music, which was hugely present during this creative time; its transitional gradients from note to note inspired the development of these shapes.

As an extension of previous collections, Azares Improbables keeps exploring with wild and clays, primitive fires and engobes, which accentuate the rawness and simplicity of working with the hands and the elements.

Coherent with previous works, observation of nature was hugely present while developing this pieces. This time, the particularly rich ecosystems of Veracruz played a siginficant role.
